EKU Professor resigns after arrest by EKU Police on charges of sexual misconduct surface

In a breaking story this afternoon, a a Richmond man has been taken into custody today in relation to charges of voyeurism and possession of sexual matter involving a minor.

35-year-old Kyle Knezevich of Richmond was taken into custody this afternoon, just after 3 o’clock.

Knezavich was Professor of Aviation at Eastern Kentucky University but has since been dismissed and was placed into custody by the EKU police.

According to the  citation, on Tuesday of this week, a video camera with an SD card was found in the men’s restroom of EKU’s Whalen building and reported to on-campus police. 

Images, acquired from the SD card allegedly contained footage showing Knezevich placing the camera in the restroom “for the purpose of viewing genitals of unsuspecting individuals.”

When confronted with the evidence at his home, the citation states Knezevich said he knew why police were there and that he had placed the camera there “for his own personal sexual gratification.”

Authorities go on to say even more disturbing images and videos of minors using that restroom and other images were found on other seized electronic devices at the home. Some involving children under 12.

The University issued this comment about the matter to WBON-TV9:

“Today, a former Eastern Kentucky University employee was arrested for alleged criminal misconduct by the Eastern Kentucky University Police Department in coordination with the Kentucky State Police. On September 6, 2023, EKU officials were notified of criminal allegations involving Kyle Knezevich. Kyle Knezevich was immediately placed on administrative leave pending a criminal investigation. On September 7 he tendered his letter of resignation. EKU is fully cooperating with law enforcement officials.”

Knezevich worked as an associate professor at EKU for the last 7 seven years. He also was part of the coaching staff at Model Laboratory High School for the swim team.
