Eastern Kentucky University President Michael Benson was named first in the list of candidates for the position of Chancellor at University of Mississippi this week.
According to the Oxford Eagle report, Benson was one of eight candidates that were chosen to be further reviewed for the position.
The Eagle reports that this was based on two variables: how they were scored by the Campus Search Advisory Committee as well as taking into account consulting from Tennessee search firm Baker Buffkin.
The eight will be narrowed down for a second round of interviews, and the University will choose a candidate by the end of the month.
