Drae Vasser, a 6-foot-1 guard from Louisville, Kentucky, has signed to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University, head coach A.W. Hamilton announced today.
Vasser spent the past two seasons at Vincennes University. After redshirting in 2024-25 he averaged 17.6 points, 5.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game on his way to earning First Team NJCAA All-America honors this past season. Vasser shot 46% from the field and 41% from 3-point range, sinking 94 shots from deep. He also knocked down 83% at the free throw line.
“Drae is a dynamic guard and an elite playmaker,” said Hamilton. “He has unlimited range and plays with a fearless mentality. He’s a leader, he’s tough and most importantly he’s a winner.”
The Region 24 Player of the Year and First Team All-Region selection scored 40 points in a game against Olney Central College on Feb. 25. Vasser hit on 13-of-23 from the field, 7-of-15 from behind the arc and 7-of-8 at the free throw line. He also had a 30-point game against Lake Land College on Feb. 18.
In addition to his scoring, Vasser handed out 11 assists in a game twice, and dished out 10 assists in two games. He had a season-high 12 rebounds in the game against Lake Land, and pulled down 10 boards on two occasions.
Vasser led Vincennes to a 31-3 record and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.
As a senior at Trinity High School in 2023-24, Vasser averaged 14.2 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 52% from the field and 36% from 3-point range. He earned third team all-state recognition after helping the Shamrocks to a 27-8 record, district and region championships and a trip to the state elite eight.
In 2022-23, Vasser averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as a junior.
