Eastern Kentucky University held a special ribbon cutting this morning celebrating the completion of Alumni Coliseum remodel. The project was completed with new seating installed and updated video boards among other final touches.
President David McFaddin, Director of Athletics Kyle Moats, and Senator Jared Carpenter addressed the crowd along with two current EKU students. Senator Carpenter spearheaded the project through the legislature and recognized Deanna Frazier Gordon’s assistance at the state level.
Senator Carpenter said that he had fond memories of playing on the EKU court, especially when he played for Madison Southern and beat Madison Central in the district tournament.
Several fans and officials came to center court to have their picture taken with Dr. McFaddin, Kyle Moats, and Senator Carpenter when the ribbon was officially cut, reopening Alumni Coliseum for the 2025-26 basketball season and many other future events.
EKU fell to WKU tonight, 87 to 79, to officially open the basketball season in Richmond.
