Wendy Lynch, the Madison County E-911 Director, was the guest speaker at the weekly meeting of the Richmond Rotary Club this past Wednesday, August 29th. Former Richmond Police Chief and Richmond Rotary member, Larry Brock, graciously introduced Wendy and mentioned that Wendy was a Richmond Police dispatcher when he became Chief of Police for the City of Richmond.
Wendy told the Rotary membership that Madison County E-911 takes calls for nine fire departments, three law enforcement agencies, the Madison County Coroner, the Madison County EMS, and Emergency Management and directs the calls to the appropriate agencies. In 2022, the agency answered 119,665 telephone calls.
Next, Wendy encouraged the Rotary membership to sign up for Smart911.com. Wendy handed out business cards for Smart911 that stated “Sign up today. Because every second counts.” She explained that by registering with Smart911 individuals can add important information for responders such as: pet and service animals, property and utility details, vehicle descriptions, medications, medical conditions and allergies, and emergency contacts.
Mayor Blythe reminded club members to call the non-emergency 911 telephone number at (859) 624-4776 and request additional patrols when members are out of town.
