The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested one adult and took a juvenile into custody earlier this week.
Officials received a complaint that a 16-year-old had allegedly stolen a farm tractor, a four wheeler, and a pistol off Highway 578 approximately 7 miles north of London. Shots were reportedly shot into the air.
Officers responded to the area. The farm tractor was located in the vicinity but the four wheeler and pistol had been taken.
The four wheeler was later on found off KY 1376 north of East Bernstadt. Police also located 26-year-old Zakrey Burritt of East Bernstadt along with the juvenile in the area. The two fled on foot but were captured immediately. The reported stolen pistol was recovered.
According to reports, a needle was found in Burritt’s pocket.
Burritt was charged with second degree wanton endangerment, possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication (controlled substances), receiving stolen property (firearm), and receiving stolen property under $10,000. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
The juvenile from East Bernstadt was charged with 4th degree assault, theft by unlawful taking (firearm), two counts of theft ($500 or more but under $10,000), second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot and by motor vehicle), public intoxication (controlled substances), first offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and numerous other traffic violations. This individual also allegedly assaulted a male subject prior to stealing the tractor, four wheeler, and pistol. He was taken to the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center.
