A high-speed pursuit that began in Mount Vernon and ended in Berea last night, has us with a few more questions than answers.
What we have been able to confirm is that an officer with Kentucky State Police attempted to make a stop on a vehicle just before 6 pm for a traffic infraction in Mount Vernon. The driver of the SUV failed to yield, and a pursuit began of the suspect onto I-75 north headed into Madison County.
The driver exited the interstate at exit 76 in Berea, where the driver crashed into a box truck near Arby’s and then fled on foot.
Somehow, the suspect made his way onto the roof of the Dinner Bell Restaurant in an attempt to elude authorities. The scene was quickly descended on by Kentucky State Police and a host of unmarked and undercover officers.
When contacted, Kentucky State Police told WBON-TV9 they were not handling this case. It has not been disclosed who the subject arrested was or where he was processed. It is also unknown what agency was involved that took charge of the case.
WBON-TV will have that video of the scene and any new developments on our Live at Five newscast today.
