District 81 State representative from Richmond, Deanna Gordon, has announced she will seek the U.S. House of Representatives seat being vacated by Rep. Andy Barr. Barr will be vying for the U.S. Senate seat open from the retiring Mitch McConnel.
Deanna Gordon, a four-term Republican representative and made the announcement Wednesday morning that she would enter the race to replace Barr for the 6th Congressional District.
According to a press release this week, Gordon said:
“The American people delivered President Trump a clear mandate last fall: America needs a new direction focused on American job growth and economic opportunity, not one fixated on DEI initiatives, transgender ideology, and failed progressive policies,” stated Gordon.
Gordon was first elected in 2018 when she ousted an incumbent in a hard-fought Republican primary. Prior to her time in the legislature and continuing through the present, Gordon helped build the largest audiology clinic in Kentucky where she created jobs while consistently fighting a failed bureaucratic state that only put up walls for her patients instead of one that worked to find solutions.
“We need a Congress that works for the working-class, not the Wall Street elite,” continued Gordon. “I’m a champion of America First policies that will allow our small businesses to flourish and grow. We need a Congress that never backs down from trimming government, ending failed progressive policies pushed by ivy league institutions, and securing the border by having the backbone to not only build a wall, but deport those here illegally, no questions asked.”
“Central Kentucky isn’t looking for a puppet or the next in line – they want someone who understands real-world problems and fixes them, not kicks the can down the road while being more concerned about the consequences of the next election.”
Kentucky’s 6th Congressional District is made up of 16 counties: Anderson, Bath, Bourbon, Clark, Estill, Fayette, Fleming, Garrard, Jessamine, Madison, Mercer, Montgomery, Nicholas, Powell, Scott, Woodford
