Yesterday the search for a Jackson County boy was called off as his body was located. Five-year-Old James Spoonamore was kidnapped along with his mother over the weekend, his mother was blindfolded and beaten before being pushed off a cliff in Jackson County. She is currently in critical condition at UK Hospital.
Police charged Lonnie Jay Belt with Murder, assault, kidnapping of an adult and a minor, as well as tampering with physical evidence after he allegedly attempted to cover up Spoonamore’s blood at his home. Reports from the arrest citation reveal the disturbing details of the death of the young boy. Belt has admitted to the kidnapping as well as pushing James’s mother, Jessica Durham off a cliff before taking the five year old about a mile further in the woods and striking his head multiple times with an unnamed metal object.
Belt’s preliminary hearing is set for September 18th and his bond is set at $500,000.
