A 49 year old man, now identified as Michael Hifner of Richmond, was pronounced deceased today by Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison. The man was discovered in a homeless encampment located near Shamrock Lane in Richmond. The homeless encampment there reportedly has several people living there, possibly dozens, living in what was described to WBON-TV as “deplorable filthy conditions” and infested with needles. Hifners last know address was on Charlie Norris Road in Madison County.
Hifner’s body has been taken to the coroner’s office for toxicology results. Richmond Police Department is heading up the investigation. The man reportedly had been deceased for several hours.
