In what seems to be a clever, premeditated plot to dupe jail staff at the Three Forks Regional Jail in Lee County, has resulted in further charges for one inmate.
According to sources, a woman came into the jail to bond out someone Saturday night, July 15, 2023. The name she gave was someone else housed on lesser, minor charges. That was not who she intended to spring from the jail, however. The plan worked when no one answered to the name being called, and another inmate reportedly said, “that’s me.”
The jail then mistakenly turned the wrong man loose. That was 37-year-old Justin Richardson of Irvine. The one the woman intended to get out all along, according to sources close to the case.
Kentucky State Police located Richardson on Sunday and re arrested him after a brief scuffle. He is now facing additional charges of escape 2nd degree, identity theft, and resisting arrest.
It is unknown at this time if the unidentified female accomplice will also face charges. Three Forks Jail is investigating the matter internally and says further charges could be forthcoming.
