Counterfeit check gets denied and leads to arrest

On Wednesday, Richmond Police responded to a call at Cumberland Valley National Bank in regards to a counterfeit complaint.

Upon arrival, police report the victim and the teller stating that 29-year-old Christopher James Woods attempted to cash a check for 900$, made out to himself, by forging the victim’s signature and information on the check. Authorities say the teller advised Woods he couldn’t cash the check and he promptly left.

Police report locating Woods as he was en route to his residence after leaving the bank. Woods reportedly admitted to attempting to cash the check and forging the information of the victim. Woods stated that any further checks may still be in his room, along with some drugs and paraphernalia.

Woods consented to a search that led to police finding a plastic baggie with suspected methamphetamine and a variety of pills in a metal green tin. The other three checks were not located.

Woods was transported to the Madison County Detention Center on charges of forgery and drug possession .
