A Laurel County woman is now in jail after she allegedly drove a box truck through a furniture store on Christmas Day, and then allegedly attempted to burglarize it. The incident occurred around noon in Corbin, where a commercial vehicle enforcement officer encountered 44 year old Penny Barnes after a search following the initial complaint. She was arrested on another unrelated complained, and charge with theft by unlawful taking over 10 thousands dollars and third degree burglary and lodged in the laurel county detention center.
