Madison County Election Schedule: No Elections in 2025; 2026 Primary Election Dates Announced
An Influx of calls, inquiring about an upcoming election, to the Madison County Clerk’s office has prompted Clerk Kenny Barger to issue a clarification memo tonight.
Residents of Madison County are advised that no elections are scheduled in 2025. The next election will be the 2026 Primary Election, with Election Day on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Polls will open from 6 AM to 6 PM.
Excused, In-Person Absentee Voting
Excused, In-Person Absentee Voting will take place Wednesday through Friday, May 6–8, and Monday through Wednesday, May 11–13, 2026, at the Richmond Branch of the Madison County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours (8 AM – 4:30 PM). Only voters who meet one of the qualifications under KRS 117.076(2) may vote during this period. For more information, please visit: www.madisoncountyclerk.us/absentee-voting.
No Excuse, In-Person Absentee Voting
No Excuse, In-person Absentee Voting will be held Thursday through Saturday, May 14–16, 2026, from 8 AM to 4 PM. Locations will be announced once approved by the Madison County Board of Elections.
Voter Registration
Voters are encouraged to confirm their registration status ahead of time. Registration, updates, and additional election information are available at govote.ky.gov.
Individuals who will be turning 18 by the General Election on November 3, 2026, may register to vote and are eligible to participate in the 2026 Primary Election.
Changing Political Party Affiliation
Residents who wish to change their political party affiliation must do so by December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM to remain eligible to vote in the 2026 Primary Election.
