City of Richmond Cancels Millstone Festival and KidsFest

In the interest of public safety and the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing pandemic, the City of Richmond has decided to cancel both KidsFest and the Millstone Festival. The events were scheduled to be held in September and October, respectively.

KidsFest was scheduled to be held on September 12, at Irvine-McDowell Park. This year would have been the event’s 20th year anniversary. The Richmond Parks and Recreation Department hopes to offer modified and socially distanced activities in lieu of the traditional event. Details on those plans will be announced as they are finalized.

The Millstone Festival, which was to be held on October 3, was going to be the inaugural event with plans of it becoming an annual fall festival in downtown Richmond.

“We are very disappointed the we have to postpone the first ever Millstone Festival scheduled for October 2020,” said City Manager Rob Minerich. “The Mayor, Commissioners, Parks Department leadership and myself all agree that with the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of our community is priority. The majority of annual festivals across the state have been canceled and it’s the right decision. I want to thank our committee members who have worked so hard to plan this event and we look forward to having this inaugural event in October 2021.”

Vendors who have applied to participate in the festival will be notified and refunded any deposits that have been made.
