A vigil will be held on Eastern Kentucky University’s campus next Thursday, September 25, at 8:30 p.m. to honor the memory of Charlie Kirk. The event will take place at Powell Plaza, with parking available in the Alumni Lot. Security will be provided by both EKU and the Richmond Police Department.
Kirk, who rose to national prominence as the founder of Turning Point USA, became a well-known voice in student activism and American politics. Beginning in the early 2010s, he built a network of young conservatives across college campuses, emphasizing civic engagement, free speech, and grassroots organizing. His presence on campuses often sparked spirited debate and conversation, leaving a mark on both supporters and critics alike.
The vigil at EKU is being organized as a nonpartisan event, giving students, faculty, and community members an opportunity to gather in reflection and remembrance. Organizers emphasized that the evening will focus on honoring Kirk’s legacy and the impact of his work, while providing a space for respectful tribute.
