Today in Madison County Circuit Court, Carl Lee Banks went before Judge William Clouse for charges pertaining to his role in the fatal Officer Daniel Ellis shooting that occurred in November 2015.
Banks pleaded guilty to three charges connected to the case.
Banks’s attorney said that he had already been picked up when the Officer was murdered, and had only driven Raleigh Sizemore (who is charged with the murder of the officer) to the preceding crime.
37-year-old Banks drove Sizemore to a gas station at the corner of West Main and Fifth streets where Sizemore had attempted to rob a woman. Following the incident, police began to search for Sizemore, who later fatally wounded Richmond Police Officer Daniel Ellis.
Banks was denied probation and is still serving a four year sentence.
