In a report released by Laurel County Sheriff John Root, details of a burglary arrest has been revealed. The report states Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Brent France along with Deputy Jamie Etherton, Deputy Charlie Johnson, and Deputy Allen Turner arrested Jamie Laufenberg age 49 of London yesterday afternoon, Sunday March 13, 2022 around 3:45 PM.
The arrest occurred at a residence off Laurel Lake Rd., North approximately 7 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress complaint. While enroute to the scene, deputies were advised that the home owners had chased a male suspect into the wood line behind the residence and that the suspect was wearing a camo jacket and facemask. The homeowners also noted that they had observed the male suspect hide stolen items in the woods and then walk to a residence nearby entering the residence.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they noted observing footprints leading from the victim’s house to where the suspect was supposedly located. The report continued to say when deputies approached the suspect’s house the male suspect attempted to flee out of a window but upon observing deputies fled back into the residence refusing to exit the residence. Deputies gave numerous commands for the suspect to exit the residence and he finally did. The suspect was taken into custody. As the investigation continued, deputies were able to locate an allegedly stolen pistol in the wood line. In addition, deputies located the camo jacket and facemask the suspect aledgedly had used in the burglary.
The suspect was then transported to the Sheriff’s office in London and while processing the suspect, and according to the report, he became irate and attempted to fight with deputies before being brought back under control. Jamie Laufenberg was charged with burglary – first-degree; possession of firearm by a convicted felon; persistent felony offender II; resisting arrest; theft by unlawful taking – firearm; giving officer false identifying information; disorderly conduct – second-degree. In addition, this subject was charged on a Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging burglary – first-degree; persistent felony offender I. Also, this subject was charged on a second Laurel Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging possession of firearm by a convicted felon; persistent felony offender I. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County correctional center.
