Kentucky State Police were involved in a high-speed pursuit this morning that began in Madison County near the 83-mile marker. The pursuit ended after KSP deployed spike strips and utilized a pit maneuver to stop the suspect in Laurel County around the 43-mile marker.
KSP officials tell WBON-TV this is an extensive investigation that is ongoing and more details will be forthcoming. As a result, both lanes of I-75 southbound are shut down around 43-mile marker. Motorists are being detoured at exit 49 onto US 25 as the interstate is expected to be shut down possibly for hours as KSP deals with what they describe as an ‘extraordinary case.’
