The Richmond Area Arts Council presented their annual Blues, Soul & Bar-B-Que pig roast at Chenault Winery Sunday night, and it was a steamer that did not disappoint this music fan.
Kudos to Randy Westbrook for putting together another hot show. Vera Stonestreet Paige delivered with her versions of “Proud Mary” and “Chain Of Fools” along with several others.
Mike Howard, on this writer’s favorites, enjoyed playing dueling electric guitars with Greg Martin, the lead guitar member of The Kentucky Headhunters. These two guitar players provided the audience with a guitar show to remember as well as several excellent vocal tracks.
Another favorite, George “Boogie G” Burdette joined the Westbrook band on bass. Boogie B provided some wonderful harmonies for Mike Howard and Vera Stonestreet Paige. Hats off to Boogie G!
The band featured Mack Davenport on percussion and Jacob Hamrick on drums. These two gentlemen definitely made a difference in providing the group with some definite rhythm and soul.
Almost forgot, but no other than Exile’s own Les Taylor was in the audience, and Les got up and joined his ole pal, Mike Howard, and the other band members for one.
Many thanks to Randy Westbrook for putting together a multi-talented group of singers and musicians for another successful Blues, Soul & Bar-B-Cue. Straight From Texas Bar-B-Que added to the steamy night of fun held at Chenault Winery.
Finally, thanks to the patrons who showed up in full force to support the Richmond Area Arts Council. The show and the food were some of the best!
