A man died this morning on I-75 in Richmond

Berea woman identified as fatal victim of crash on I-75 Wednesday night

The Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, is investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision that occurred around 6:30 p.m. yesterday, October 30th, in Rockcastle County on Interstate I-75 at the 71-mile marker northbound.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2019 Ford Fusion, operated by Sally T. Broesell, 77, of Berea, was traveling northbound on Interstate I-75 when she lost control of her vehicle and veered into the path of a 2000 Freightliner Diesel Semi. The Semi was operated by Justin L. Hillhouse, 26, of Falcon, MO. Mr. Hillhouse was not injured in the accident.

As a result of the collision, Ms. Broesell suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Rockcastle County Coroner at the scene.

The crash closed all northbound traffic on the interstate for about 4 hours, as the reconstruction team investigated. Traffic was rerouted to US 25 during that time.

KSP Post 11 Trooper Austin Cornett is conducting the ongoing investigation. He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 Personnel, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, the Rockcastle Sheriff’s Office, the Mount Vernon Police Department, Rockcastle EMS, the Mount Vernon Fire Department, and the Rockcastle County Coroner.
