Berea Police were dispatched to the Walmart in Berea in reference to a male and female reportedly passed out in a vehicle in the parking lot. The incident occurred Friday, August 18, around 3 p.m.
Callers told dispatch that they could not wake the female up, and a small child was in the backseat of the vehicle.
The officer stated it was 81°, and the back windows were rolled up about halfway. The toddler’s face was blood red according to the responding officer.
The female, and alleged mother of the child was finally able to wake up after some time. The officer states the male in the vehicle was unresponsive and blue in the face. Officers removed the child and moved it to a car with running air conditioning.
The officers discovered the vehicle was still in reverse, and the couple had apparently hit a pole prior to the vehicle coming to rest.
William Gross 32, of Stanford and Megan Sanders 27, of Richmond were both arrested.
Charges levied against the couple include endangering the welfare of a minor, criminal abuse, first degree of a child under 12, and wanton endangerment, first degree.
