Berea Police officer injured, returns fire on subject at Walmart

Berea Police have confirmed one of their officers were involved in a shooting incident early this morning in the Berea Walmart parking lot.

Officers responded to Walmart around 6;30 a.m. to a call to investigate a stolen vehicle. When officers attempted to make contact with the driver, officers say he placed the car in reverse and struck an officer. Pinning him between two vehicles. The officer then fired his weapon into the vehicle to stop the threat. 

That officer and two other people involved were transported to the area hospitals to be treated for injuries.

Police say there is no further threat to the community and all involved are currently in custody. 

As is standard practice, Kentucky State Police is investigating this officer involved shooting.

Walmart is open for business; as officers continue to work the scene for evidence and investigate.
