A Berea man was arrested recently after he was reportedly involved in a fight which took place in the parking lot of a Paint Lick Road motel.
According to the victim, Terry Rawlins punched them in the face with a closed fist before kicking them while they were on the ground. The victim told police that Rawlins continued the assault by throwing a cell phone at them, resulting in it shattering when it hit the ground. Police say the victim had injuries which were consistent with the description of the attack.
Upon speaking with Rawlins, he allegedly told police that he became upset with the victim after being woken up early to buy meth. According to Rawlins, he did push the victim after they pulled a knife on him and cut his right hand. Officers observed minor scratches on Rawlins’ hand which did not appear to be stab marks.
Witnesses claimed that they did not see the entire assault, but that they did watch Rawlins attack the victim on the ground. Police later located footage of the assault, which also reportedly depicted Rawlins being aggressive to and kicking his dog.
Rawlins was transported to the Madison County Detention Center where he was charged with 2nd Degree Cruelty to Animals, 2nd Degree Assault, and 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief.
