The Berea Police Department reported in a citation that they responded to a kidnapping complaint in the Paint Lick Road area.
Officers report making contact with the victim of the complaint, who allegedly stated to officers that they, and their one-month old daughter were being held against their will in a hotel room by the alleged suspect, 24 year-old Tommy Savage. The victim further stated to police that during a physical altercation the night prior to the complaint, Savage allegedly strangled the victim until she went unconscious.
After being detained, Savage was questioned and admitted that he and the victim had been in the hotel room all day long the day prior and day of. When asked about the alleged altercation by police, Savage admitted to the fight becoming physical, but only stated that pushing was involved and there was no strangling, even though the victim complained of alleged neck pains and had visible markings on her neck.
According to the citation, Savage then further stated to officers that he did allegedly grab her in the chest and neck area, but that the victim was only acting like they were choking until they seemed to not be able to breathe, so he tried to provide medical aid.
Savage was arrested, transported, and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on Charges of Strangulation 1st Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree, and Disorderly Conduct 1st Degree.
