The Richmond Police Department has been accredited after three years. The accreditation process involves a third party examining the department to ensure that they follow the highest possible standards for police in the state. The standards involve everything from record keeping to how officers respond to calls. Chief of Police James Ebert said that he began the accreditation process when he became chief in 2016 and used a bottom up method. Ebert said the process to get accredited involved officers on every level at RPD. Ebert is happy that his officers are working to the highest standards and hopes that the public will be proud for the officers of the RPD as they continue to serve.
