Berea Police responded to a call detailing an alleged theft of several items from Wal-Mart early Wednesday morning. The reported items included two firearms.
When authorities arrived at the scene, Wal-Mart Loss Prevention officers stated that a male subject, later identified as Charles Blair of Danville, had placed one firearm along with several other items inside of a box that originally contained a basketball goal. Blair then allegedly proceeded to tape the box back up to conceal the identity of the contents within the box.
According to the citation, the suspect placed the other firearm inside of a gun case which had already been purchased. According to police, Blair admitted to concealing the items with the intent to leave the store after being Mirandized. A receipt totaled the value of all the concealed items at $1,518.90 before taxes.
Blair was charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking or Shoplifting ($500 or more but Under $10,000) and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
