Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear was on Eastern Kentucky University’s campus today to address sexual assault awareness and prevention. His remarks wrapped up the It’s On Us Pledge Drive and various awareness-raising events this month on EKU’s campus.
Beshear says sexual assault is something he has been advocating against for years, and the numbers are startling: that one in five women and one in 16 males have experienced sexual assault on a college campus. He explained to the crowd of students an staff alike that his office has budgeted large swaths of funds just to ensure that victim’s rights would be advocated.
The event also took place during the annual Women and Gender Studies Clothesline Project on campus.
