Law enforcement remained on the scene of what started as a barricade situation in Rockcastle County Tuesday night for several hours. The matter began a little after 10, when a man reportedly had fired shots outside the home.
The incident occurred at a residence on Kelsey Drive, just off KY 461. After officers responded, they reported more shots fired in their direction. They have remained on scene, in subzero weather, negotiating with the suspect most of the overnight.
This morning, just before 4:30 a.m., Post 11 London Troopers say they arrested Jason N. Cope, a 34-year-old resident of Mt. Vernon.
Cope is facing charges including seven counts of wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and persistent felony possession of a firearm.
Cope also had two outstanding arrest warrants.
