Around 7:30 am yesterday morning, the Mount Vernon Fire Department was dispatched to Barnett Road for a vehicle that was reportedly in Lake Linville. No driver was found on scene. A boat was used to search the area. The driver was not located and had apparently fled the scene after the incident. The Rockcastle Sheriff’s Department says the car was reported stolen and no arrests have been made at this time. They were successful in retrieving the car from the lake and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information please contact the sheriff’s department at 606-256-2032.
