According to a report filed by Kentucky State Police, A berea woman hired a moving company to assist with her move on June 19th, which led to the alleged theft of a 20 gauge shotgun from her residence.
The shotgun was reportedly located inside a gun cabinet, which the victim instructed the movers to leave inside the case during the move. According to the citation, Shawn Ahlgren was the last one in the room with the gun and made an abrupt exit. Ahlgren was reportedly gone from the residence for an hour, which is when the victim noticed the gun missing and called the police.
The report states that upon officer arrival to the residence, all of the workers and the victim had consistent stories about Ahlgren leaving the scene and the other movers noted it was “not normal” for any of the crew to leave a job. When the officer questioned Ahlgren, he claimed to not have any involvement in the disappearance of the gun.
Eight days later, on June 27th, the report states that Jonathan McKinney contacted police stating he had the shotgun and wanted to return it. McKinney reportedly claimed that Ahlgren had sold the gun for $125, but got the gun back and contacted police once he found out the full story.
Shawn Ahlgren was placed under arrest on June 29th without incident.
