The Madison County Sheriff’s Department recently responded to a call in regards to a domestic dispute between family members.
When the officer arrived on the scene, a family member stated that the suspect, later identified as Larry Quarrles, had allegedly assaulted them. The victim then told the officer that Quarrles had instigated an argument with a friend of the family.
According to the citation, Quarrles proceeded to strike the family acquaintance with a stick. During this time, Quarrles’ relative had reportedly ordered him to leave the residence and told him that they were calling the police.
At this point, Quarrles allegedly struck the family member in the head with his fist before throwing an object at their television. The family member advised the officer that as Quarrles was leaving, he reportedly stated that he would kill them if they called the police.
Further reading of the citation indicates that authorities later located Quarrles as he was walking on Forest Lane a few miles from the household. Upon contact with Quarrles, he allegedly told the officer that he had gotten involved in an argument with the victims, but that he never physically assaulted them. Reportedly, he went on to explain to the officer that “when he gets really mad, sometimes he blacks out and can’t remember anything”.
Quarrles was arrested and lodged in the Madison County Detention Center where he was charged with 4th Degree Assault.
