Fall temperatures finally made an appearance Saturday in Pulaski county for the Somerset Christian School Cougar Prowl. The meet featured teams from across the south central Kentucky region, including Rockcastle county, Corbin, Bell County, Williamsburg, Knox Central, as well as local teams Red House Runners and Madison Southern.
Madison Southern’s Sully Long continued his strong season with another top-10 finish, placing eighth in the boys’ 5K with a time of 17:32. Red House Runners’ Tucker Batey also turned in a solid performance, completing the course in 17:50, good for the 11th best time. A total of 121 runners competed in the race.
With cooler temperatures providing a welcome change for the runners, the Cougar Prowl offered another opportunity for area athletes to test themselves against strong competition. Both Madison Southern and Red House Runners continue to build momentum as the cross-country season moves deeper into the fall.
