The charred body that was confirmed discovered inside a burned home in Boone Village Subdivision recently has been officially identified this afternoon.
Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison confirms to WBON-TV9 that the body was identified as 59-year-old Jerry Thigpen of Tennessee.
Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies first responded to a residence on June 29th in Boone Village in Madison County, just off Boonesborough Road, due to a shots fired complaint.
Authorities located one female victim outside the home who had sustained gunshot wounds, but survived the ordeal. The shooter then apparently set the home on fire with him in it.
Because of the severe burned condition of the body, the official cause of death is still pending until all tests are completed by the state medical examiner.
