A 96 year old Berea man has been arrested and charged with the attempted murder of his 90 year old wife.
A family member stated the man just seem to “snap” on the mother and allegedly tried to smother her with a pillow.
When Berea Police officers spoke to the man, he reportedly stated that he and his wife, neither had long to live and admitted he tried to smother her. He went on to say his wife had dementia and had told him many times she was ready to die. He stated his intentions was to take her life mercifully, then his own.
The woman was transported to the hospital early Saturday morning. Her condition is unknown at this time.
Arrested was 96 year-old Seymour Taffler of Berea. He was booked into the Madison County Detention Center.
