89th District Representative Robert Goforth held a town hall meeting in Berea tonight.
One matter that that was a large part of the discussion was Goforth’s views regarding pensions and taxes. Goforth said in his speech that people who were promised a pension deserve to get what they were promised. He also spoke in favor of tax reform, although he isn’t necessarily in favor of lower or higher taxes.
Goforth also mentioned that he does feel that the current system of exemptions needs to be reworked, and that exemptions that don’t benefit Kentucky economically should be cut.
He also discussed his views on the abortion debate, in which he said he was completely against all forms of abortion during pregnancy. Medical marijuana was also brought up in the town hall meeting, to which he responded that his stance is until marijuana is rescheduled on the national level, he will vote against medicinal cannabis for Kentucky.
Robert Goforth was voted into his Kentucky house seat last month when the previous representative Marie Rader resigned due to health issues, and a special election was held for the district that covers southern Madison, Jackson, and Laurel counties.
