An 88-year-old man from Berea, identified as Norman “Cotton”Carpenter, lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Friday night.
Investigators say the wreck occurred after Mr. Carpenter suffered an apparent “medical emergency.”
The incident occurred around 11:30 pm on Leestown Road near Adams Lane. According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Carpenter’s vehicle, a 1996 Toyota Tacoma, veered off the road, striking a utility pole and then a tree. He was rushed to Georgetown Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office was assisted on the scene by the Scott County Fire Department and GSCEMS.
Funeral services will be 1pm, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Stevie Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaffold Cane Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6- 9pm, Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
