The search for the missing Jackson county boy has been called off, as according to Kentucky state police, the body of the young boy was found this morning around 9 am. The boy had been identified as five year old James Spoonamore, whose mother, Jessica is currently being treated at UK hospital for her injuries after she was kidnapped. James’s body had been discovered by search crews less than a mile from where his mother was originally found critically injured. Police have charged Lonnie Jay Belt with assault, kidnapping of an adult and a minor, and tampering with physical evidence after he allegedly attempted to cover up Spoonamore’s blood at his home. Police say Belt beat the mother and attempted to throw her off a cliff in Jackson county after they were in an argument over money.
