Tuesday June 21, 2022, the Irvine Police Department received a complaint of suspicious activity on a bank account belonging to an elderly person. Sgt. Hensley reportedly estimated at least $19,160.00 had been illegally obtained from the account via unauthorized checks.
Placed under arrest were Brandi Farthing, 42, and Paul Descoteaux, 53, both of EdgeWater Drive in Irvine. Reportedly, Mr. Descoteaux admitted cashing the checks and stated Ms. Farthing filled them out. Mr. Descoteaux also reportedly stated the money was used for his and Farthing’s drug habit. Assisting in the investigation was Officer James Marshall, Chief Ken White of Ravenna and Chief Sturniolo of Irvine.
The couple are facing varying burglary and theft related charges, as well as exploitation of an adult.
Both were lodged at Three Forks Regional Jail in Beattyville.
