An accident that occurred earlier this afternoon in Richmond has resulted in the death of a young woman.
Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn’s office confirms a 23-year-old Kentucky woman was fatally injured in the accident. The woman was transferred from Baptist Health Richmond to a Lexington hospital this afternoon following the crash.
The woman’s identity has not been released at this time.
The accident occurred at exit 87. All three lanes of southbound I-75 was closed during afternoon drive time, while emergency crews and the Richmond Police accident reconstruction team worked the incident.
The initial investigation indicates the woman was traveling north on the interstate, when her vehicle crossed the medium striking another vehicle traveling south.
