A Richmond resident has been identified as the drowning victim in today’s search and rescue efforts in Lincoln County this afternoon. According to Lincoln County EMA, 21-year-old Corey Denson’s body was recovered just after 3 p.m. today. A friend he was fishing with reportedly said “Denson went into the water, went down, came back up, then went under again to never resurface.”
Lincoln County Emergency Management, other agencies and officials responded to the area after being dispatched to the Cedar Creek Lake this afternoon around noon, just off Highway 1770 West of Crab Orchard. Densons body was eventually found around 5:30 p.m., when the Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum pronounced the victim dead on scene.
Denson’s body has been sent to the state medical examiner in Frankfort for an autopsy and toxicology reports. As of now, no cause or reason for the 21-year-olds unexplained drowning can be determined, however foul play is not suspected at this time, according to officials.
Kentucky Fish & Wildlife, Lincoln County, Stanford and Boyle County EMA and dive teams assisted in the search and recovery.
