In this edition of election 2019 2 minute sit-downs, we spoke with Attorney General for Kentucky Candidate Daniel Cameron.
Cameron is running on the Republican ticket, and has behind him quite a bit of law experience including graduating from Brandeis School of Law where he was a member of the law review, as well as president of the student Bar Association.
Cameron also worked under US District Court Judge for the eastern district of Kentucky and then went on to private practice. Cameron explained that the main impetus for his running was the ongoing drug epidemic throughout the Commonwealth and he has ideas for how this can be remedied.
Elaborating on this topic, Cameron says that the AG’s office is the ultimate office with which he can use to fight the drug crisis, which he says is the paramount public health issue going on across the Commonwealth.
Synergy between state and local partners is also crucial to Cameron and his platform, including working with state and county attorneys. This should be accomplished in part, he adds, by viewing the position from more of a law enforcement standpoint.
Cameron will be running against Wil Schroder in the primary election for the AG spot on the Republican ticket.
