10th Planet Richmond brought their A-game to the Goodfight tournament in London, Kentucky, and left a significant mark on the competition.
The youth team of 10th Planet Richmond emerged as true contenders, securing the Team Runner-Up position in the tournament. Notable wins from standout competitors Leif Burgin and Raylan Hall added to the team’s glory.
Leif Burgin, despite adjusting to the rigorous nature of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, showcased remarkable technical proficiency and claimed his very first gold medal. Raylan Hall, competing for the second time with team AFS, demonstrated incredible determination by earning his first gold medal, even when faced with a higher-skilled division. The coaches of 10th Planet Richmond’s youth team couldn’t be prouder of their students’ achievements.
Moreover, 10th Planet Richmond’s success at the Goodfight tournament reflects their recent recognition as the Best of the Best 2023 in Madison County as decided by the readers of madison counties Richmond Register. Not only did they receive this prestigious honor for being the top martial arts studio, but also for their outstanding youth programs.
In the adult division, 10th Planet Richmond’s competitors showcased their adaptability and skill. Despite primarily focusing on no-gi jiu-jitsu, the team managed to secure an impressive 4th place spot in the gi portion of the event. The adult team’s performance was nothing short of outstanding, as they clinched the number one spot in the adult no-gi division. The combination of the 4th and 1st placement earned 10th Planet Richmond adult team a place on the podium for 3rd place overall.
