10th Planet Richmond traveled to the Fuji Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Tournament in Bowling Green on Saturday February 17th. The event boasted over 400 total competitors. Despite facing the challenge of missing several top competitors due to illness, the 10th Planet Richmond team, with only 10 of their youth athletes secured an overall runner-up position for the best youth team and earning a stunning total of 17 gold medals.
Of the 10 competitors, 2 stood out for the 10th Planet Richmond team, Paul Thomas and Ian Davis
Paul Thomas with only eight months of training under his belt, clinched two gold medals and two absolute division rings, and he didn’t stop there. Venturing into the Intermediate division, he managed to secure a second-place finish, proving that dedication and the right training can make champions.
Another 10th planet athlete making great progress was Ian Davis. In his 4 matches of the day we was able to not only secure wins but also manage to avoid having any points scored against him.
The team’s success is a testament to their hard work, preparation, and the supportive environment fostered by their coaches at 10th Planet Richmond. The 17 gold medals not only represent their victories on the mat but also signify their hard work and commitment to the sport of Jiu-Jitsu.
Looking forward, the team is not resting for long. They are already preparing for their next challenge at the upcoming Chewjitsu competition in Louisville, KY scheduled for February 24th. With the momentum from their recent success, the team is excited and ready to face new competitors and achieve more victories.
