10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Richmond-ADCC Atlanta Open results

10th Planet Richmond traveled to Atlanta this weekend to compete in the ADCC Atlanta Open. The team brought seven competitors and returned home with two gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medal finishes.

Raylan Hall, a 10-year-old grey belt, fought through a tough bracket with three hard matches. He submitted his first two opponents to advance to the finals. In the championship match, his opponent, Killian Kelley, pulled guard immediately and received a -1 penalty. The two battled through the remainder of the match with neither athlete scoring, giving Raylan the victory by decision and earning him the gold medal.

Vitoria Lopes brought home the team’s second gold medal, submitting both of her opponents during regulation. She also challenged herself by moving up a weight class, where she earned a silver medal.

Natilee Wells entered her division and dropped a very close 2-0 decision in her opening match. She battled back through the consolation bracket, submitting both of her remaining opponents to earn a bronze medal. Natilee also stepped up to compete in the adult women’s division at just 15 years old. After a narrow 2-0 loss in her first match, she once again wrestled back, winning two matches to claim another bronze medal.

Tony Lopes showed some of the biggest improvement of the day. He finished 2-2, gaining valuable experience and putting together two hard-fought victories against tough competition.

On the adult side, Eric Barnes, with only three months of training, went 2-1 to earn a silver medal in just his second jiu-jitsu tournament since beginning his training journey.

The team continues to build momentum as they prepare for their next event, the Fuji State Championship in Lexington on June 20th.
