If you happen to show up at the Richmond Area Arts Center on the corner of Water and Lancaster Friday night, you were entertained by two of Madison County’s favorite music artists. Yes, Pam Perry and Derrick Isaacs strummed their instruments and sang several of their original songs.
Kudos to Randy Westbrook for inviting the musicians to showcase their craft. Their original songs touched the hearts of many in the crowd by the comments on Facebook this Saturday morning. There were a few tears when Pam sang tributes to her mother, father, and daughters. Derrick accompanied Pam on every original song and played several of his originals.
The crowd was very appreciative of their music, and there were even a few comments from those in attendance that made most everyone chuckle. Several musicians were in attendance to hear Pam and Derrick like Mike Howard, Wanda Barnett, Owen Grise, Donna Agee, and even Curt Chapman the famous bass player who calls Richmond home today.
Mike Howard and Curt Chapman play locally with Pam in the Dooley Gang and can be heard on the third Thursday of each month at Madison Gardens. Wanda Barnett was a member of the New Coon Creek Girls with Pam and teaches young and old alike to play the fiddle, violin, and guitar. Curt Chapman is a member of Branch Water Kin with Derrick and Pam and plays most every Sunday evening at Nuevo Vallarta. Owen Grise is a fantastic guitar player and singer playing in The Quack for many, many years. Donna Agee shared a few stories with me about her band, Faded Blue. For the record, central Kentucky is full of awesome musicians which makes me thankful.
At the end of the show, I asked Randy Westbrook if the Richmond Area Arts Center would host Wanda Barnett, Derrick Isaacs, Owen Grise, and Greg Austin in the near future. Please tell Randy that you would come to the show.
