Berea Police Department stuns public with bizarre social post

While firefighters and forestry personnel were busy battling the raging wildfire in the Pitts area of Estill County Tuesday, someone at the Berea Police Department was busy apparently trying their hand at comedy.

This was posted on the BPD Facebook page:

The ‘brush fire’ as the post put it, is now well over 200 acres. Madison County Fire crews from Kirksville and Waco have since responded to assist Estill County contain the fire. The ash and plume of smoke infiltrated some parts of Madison County today in the Red Lick area and other areas in southern Madison County. The Estill County Fire, among many others in the region and state, led to a statewide burn ban being issued late Tuesday afternoon. Needless to say, many found the post unprofessional, insensitive, and out of touch. The post was taken down later in the day and an apology issued:

That apology now appears to have been taken down as well. It is unknown who made the posts or what any of it has to do with police work, but hopefully the latter post is correct, and it will be a teachable moment for BPD.
