KSP says shooting reported tonight appears to be “swatting”


The Kentucky State Police Post 12, Frankfort, is investigating what was reported as a shooting incident that allegedly occurred just before 5:00 p.m. tonight  in the area of Salt River Road in Anderson County.

KSP now says this incident is believed to be (Swatting), and law enforcement cleared the area.  The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 12. 

Swatting is the action or practice of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to draw a large presence of armed police officers to a residence, potentially putting officers and citizens in danger. 

Swatting is a Class D Felony and is punishable by up to five years in prison.
