New record highs set locally for gas and diesel


All of us feeling the pain at the gas pumps, and Triple A is out with the latest information, and it’s not pretty. A robust Memorial Day weekend of travel sent demand soaring and prices with it. The national average for a gallon of gas surged 25 cents in a week to hit $4.86. The average gas price in Kentucky rose 36 cents over the past week, currently at $4.66. The average in Lexington is up 39 cents on the week, now at $4.59. The national average price for diesel is now at $5.64, a new record high. In Kentucky, diesel prices are now at $5.54, also a new record high.
