**Update: Subject Arrested During Madison County pursuit of vehicle on I-75


**Update**: The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a pursuit on I-75 Friday, May 20, 2022, at 2:22 p.m. Deputy Jeremey Hamilton with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Chestnut Street in Berea for traffic violations. During the traffic stop, Deputy Hamilton determined the driver had multiple active warrants. Deputy Hamilton made contact with the driver who fled the scene toward I-75. The driver merged onto I-75 north bound at exit 76 when his vehicle struck a Madison County Sheriff’s Office vehicle. The pursuit continued north bound into Richmond where the Kentucky State Police assisted.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed Stop Sticks which deflated the front driver’s tire. The pursuit came to a conclusion around the 94-mile marker north bound after the driver struck a KSP vehicle. Stephen Dwyte Keel, 47 of Berea, was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Fleeing and Evading, and multiple traffic offenses. He was also charged on the active felony warrants. Additional charges are pending by the Kentucky State Police.

Original story: A pursuit of a vehicle Friday afternoon has reportedly ended with the suspect crashing. Also involved in the crash was a KSP cruiser. The pursuit began around 2:30 Friday afternoon and ended with the collision at the 94 mile marker of northbound 75. The suspect is reportedly in custody.
